In this project I took a risk and tried making art that I hadn't tried before, and liked the way it turned out. I usually just draw for my art, but this time I took another piece of work by a different artist and modified it. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do at first for this project, but after looking at some of Ben Giles' works, I wanted to try a similar thing.
Something else I did in this project was steal like an artist. I used someone else's work and modernized it. I took a work of Don Eddy's called "Dreamreader's Table III". I had to make it different so I used magazines with modern images and cut them out. I used them to bring more character to another artists' work. I was inspired by Ben Giles and used Don Eddy's work to create similar ideas.
I was also able to reflect through my work by planning out where I wanted every magazine cut out to go. I had to make sure the magazine cut-outs were placed in a spot that made sense in the original picture. For example, I placed the sleeping cowboy on the horizon, that way his head was resting on the hill. I put the walrus popping out of the water in the sea so it looked as if it were meant to be there. I decided to use the melon as the sun to make it seem more unique, as well as the car driving cross the rainbow. Lastly, I put the bird and squirrel on the table to make it seem like they were attracted there by the food.
